Motorcycle Camping

A buddy of mine and I took a few days off to do some camping during the Easter weekend. The plan was to head up to Mt. Pinos for four days. Another friend was going to meet us at the campground Friday night. Mt. Pinos was closed so we decided to try P-Bar instead. Neither of us had ever been to P-Bar but it was up in the mountains overlooking Ventura so we figured it must be a good area to check out. Unfortunately P-Bar was closed. We weren't too upset since the ride up the mountain had been awesome. Part of the road actually was on the ridge of the mountain. We rode down the mountain and headed over to Lake Cachuma. We ended up having to stay at a so-so campground because the road leading farther into the Los Padres National Forest was flooded. The next day we decided to head out to Davy Brown.

Heading out from Eagle Rock.

The essentials: good beer and plenty of water.

Campground by Lake Cachuma.

Honda Kicker

Had a problem with the Honda a couple of weeks back. I've been busy with other things so I wasn't able to take a look at the Honda till yesterday. My dad and I got down to work. It didn't take long to have our suspicion of what was wrong confirmed.

Took off the kicker, foot pegs and kick stand.

Then off came the case.

Yup, teeth are worn down.

Wait, what's this?

Worn teeth and cracked!

I'm not sure if I'm kicking the Honda too hard or if the problem was that a 40+ year old part finally gave way. After the Honda sat for a few years it took my dad and I quite a few kicks to get it to fire up.

QOTSA

Last night's QOTSA show was spectacular. I hadn't seen them perform previous to last night's show. Wow. That's all I can say. They played their (well, just Homme's since he's the only original member left) first album followed by two encores of material from their other albums.
Worth every penny.
